Online Information Page for Educators and Teaching Candidates
HOW CAN I HELP YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR FUTURE?
The information in these webpages is to assist teaching candidates with Career Development as they begin their job search. This webpage is designed to guide you through the most important information regarding your next steps since most of you are off campus at the point you need to begin your professional development.
The tabs to the left walk you through the career development process in a logical manner. Even if you feel pretty confident about one of the information tabs, take a look anyway to see if there is information that you may not be aware of; information with regard to resumes and interviewing changes regularly. The list below will help you know what each tab contains. You may use the wordset within the quotations, or the tabs to begin your career development.
The "Career Development Topics" page is to give you a clear list of the information you will find on this webpage and its links. Each section is laid out to allow you to click each button in order of career development suggested importance.
"The Resume" page will demonstrate through a PowerPoint on how to create your resume and why we design it the way we do. There is an example for you to see how the finished product should look as well as verb ideas for your bullets to help you get started.
"Interviews with Principals" will give you ideas about what different principals look for when they are interviewing, as well as what their interview looks like.
"Interview Preparation" is a link to an online resource. "InterviewStream" is a lot like SKYPE to help you become comfortable talking to your computer, comfortable with they type of questions you might be asked, and to help you know what many principals consider important. Because not all computers have webcam accessibility we offer a private room with InterveiwStream access in the Career Development Center.
"Tough Topics for Teachers " includes Tough Topics for Teachers, 87 questions that could be asked in an interview, but not by any means an inclusive list. You will hear other questions that are asked when you listen to the video interviews with principals.
"Dress for Professional Success" will show you what professional dress looks like as well as offer pointers about the details you need to be aware of when you prepare for an interview.
"The Praxis, Licensure, and Certification" will give you information about what the Praxis involves, how you can best prepare, and what you can expect to see with the new Teacher Performance Assessment coming to Ohio.
In the event you are an experienced teacher, we welcome any career advice you may want to share via the blog. The blog is designed to be an interactive space where teaching candidates may ask questions and experienced professionals may respond, or the experienced professional may share their own stories, ideas, or suggestions.
